Rosemary

Botanical Name: Rosmarinus officinalis

Rosemary is a highly fragrant and flavourful herb, traditionally added to lamb, it is a very good addition to any meat dish especially game. It can be added to roast potato along with some garlic, or to roast tomatoes and sauces.

Rosemary has an affinity with pumpkin in both sweet and savoury dishes, try it in pumpkin soup, pumpkin cookies or pie. It also compliments citrus dishes.

Add rosemary to the bathwater after a physically demanding day to soothe sore muscles and relieve tension.

Medicinally rosemary improves memory and concentration and has potential in the treatment of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson disease. It enhances liver detoxification, improves circulation and relieves tension headaches.

Externally it can be used to bring relief for arthritis, neuralgia, muscle and joint pain and sciatica.

For internal use 2g of the herb to a cup of boiling water to make a rosemary tea, and take 3 times a day.

For external use add to the bath water 50g to a litre of boiling water cover and let it steep for 15 min before adding to the bath. It can also be added to oil to massage the affected area.
